I saw you pull your purse closer to you in line at the store….
…but you didn’t see me put the extra $50 in the collection plate on Sunday.
I saw you pull your child toward you as we walked down the sidewalk…
…but you didn’t see me playing Santa at the Children’s Hospital.
I saw you change your mind about going into the restaurant when you saw my bike parked outside…
…but you didn’t see me inside holding a meeting to raise more money for hurricane relief.
I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your children…
…but you didn’t see me when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless shelter.
I saw you stare at my long hair…
…but you didn’t see me cut 10 inches off for Locks of Love.
I saw you roll your eyes at our leather jackets and gloves…
…but you didn’t see me and my brothers donate our old ones to those who had none.
I saw you look in fright at my tattoos…
…but you didn’t see me cry when my children were born and had there names written in my skin above my heart.
I saw you change lanes as you where rushing off to go somewhere…
…but you didn’t see me going home to be with my family.
I saw you cut me off because you wanted in my lane…
…but you didn’t see me go off the road.
I saw you there waiting impatiently for my friends to pass…
…but you didn’t see me. I wasn’t there.
I saw you go home to your family…
…but you didn’t see me. I died that day you cut me off.
I WAS JUST A BIKER. A BIKER WHO WAS A FATHER, A HUSBAND, AND A BROTHER. JUST A BIKER WHO SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS HELPING SICK CHILDREN AND PUTTING SMILES ON THEIR FACES, RAISING MONEY AND DONATING FOOD AND TOYS TO HOMELESS SHELTERS. JUST A BIKER WHO DEFENDED YOUR COUNTRY. JUST A BIKER WHO LOVED AND PROVIDED FOR HIS FAMILY. JUST A BIKER WHO WOULD GIVE YOU THE SHIRT OFF HIS BACK IF YOU NEEDED IT...EVEN IF HE DIDN'T KNOW YOU.
BUT ITS OK...I DIDN'T MATTER...I WAS JUST A BIKER.
